Qualifications:

                            1. Must be licensed in Business Education or ability to be licensed in CTE Business Education

                              

 Reports to:                             Career and Technical Education Director

 

Supervises:                             (N/A)

 

Job Goal:                                 To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development

                                               as mature, able, and responsible men and woman.

Performance Responsibilities:

                                           

  1. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  1. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  1. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  1. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  1. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  1. Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  1. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  1. Plans and supervises, when assigned, purposeful assignments for teacher assistants and evaluates their job performance.
  1. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  1. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. 
  1. Such alternatives to the above responsibilities that the principal may deem appropriate and acceptable.

Terms of Employment:               Ten month year/ Contract/FSLA Exempt

 

Starting Salary and/or Grade:

Salary based on the North Carolina state salary scale.

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Carteret County Public School Board’s policy on the evaluation of Licensed Employees.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local procedures regarding Career and Technical Education instruction and curriculum area requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities.
  • Ability to make oral presentations before large groups of people.
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers and all aspects of Microsoft Office and Google software programs, as well as software programs implemented by the district or school.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups as necessitated by work assignments.
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism, leadership, and personal responsibility for daily work, attendance, personal appearance, student learning, and school success.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with school personnel, students, parents, and other stakeholders while complying with the confidentiality requirements in local, state, and federal policies and statutes.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, such as walking, lifting, stooping, standing, grasping, kneeling, crouching, and key-requiring repetitive motions.
